Bianca Ojukwu
Ojukwu, who is aspiring on the platform of the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Anambra State, would face the likes of Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and Dr. Anselm Enyimba at the primaries of the party expected to take place early next month.
The leadership of APGA had already said it would provide a level-playing field for all the aspirants for the various political offices for the 2019 elections.
Speaking on Ojukwu’s senatorial ambition yesterday, an American –based medical practitioner and philanthropist, Dr. Godwin Maduka said she deserved to be elected into the country’s upper legislative house in view of her enormous experience in politics and urged the Anambra South electorate to support her.
Maduka said: “Bianca Ojukwu has the capacity to showcase Nigeria as a country of heroes and heroines through her academic, professional, family and political experiences.
“We know her life history and her experience in various fields eminently qualifies her to be a senator.
“We should appreciate her for agreeing to run for a public office and I am sure she learnt a lot from her late husband, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Igbo supreme leader and from her late father and former governor, Chief Christian Onoh.”
“As a lawyer and a former ambassador, Nigeria needs her type in the senate.”
Mrs. Ojukwu commended Maduka for supporting her senatorial ambition and expressed happiness at the way he has been imparting positively on the lives of people over the years.
She called on other Igbo people in Diaspora to invest part of their wealth at home as Maduka had done, noting that doing so would help to eradicate high rate of poverty and unemployment in Nigeria
